When you say "check the current date, what do you mean? Do you want a form to automatically fill in the current date? If so you would set the default value for that field to =date()

Thanks for all the feedback. Sorry if i say it wrong.

What I would like to do is to use the "Conditional formatting" in access 2003 to hightlight the color if the datefield in my data is over the current date. if the current date is over the datefield, it will turn into different color in my report.

Not sure what you mean by "over" and you first state "data is over the current date" then "current date is over the datefield." But I think this will cover it.

In the Conditional Format Dialog box, under Condition select Field Value

Then for cases where the datefield value falls after today's date put
Greater Than -- Date()

For cases where the datefield value falls before today's date put
Less Than -- Date()
