Access 97 & Access 2007

We unfortunately have multiple versions of Access running, including
Access 97. My system was recently upgraded to Office 2007. Now,
whenever I open an Access 97 db and subsequently open another db
using
Access 2007, the software goes through a two minute configuration/
setup routine. The installing tech acknowledged this issue and said
they had a registry hack that prevented the problem with Access 97
and
Access 2000 but as of yet have no solution for the 97/2007 problem.
Does anyone have a solution?

No, I'm not aware of a solution for this.

It's very frustrating if you select the wrong version.

It's not much of a solution, but you can partition the hard drive and make your
computer a multi-boot system. You can have the same OS in both boot
partitions. Then install which ever version of office you use the least in the
second boot OS.

Simple.

Just split the 97 databases and then convert the front end to at least
2002 version.

The backend would stay as 97.
There would be two front ends.
e,g App1.mdb and App1-2007.mdb

So you just run the 2007 front end whilst others run the 97 one....

Also,

Give the 97 users the 2003 run-time and upgrade every database to this
version at least.
It works fine in Access 2007 and even 2002 databases work fine.

There's a rumour the 2007 runtime will be out by next month and for
free.
