Access 2000 select from many list boxes

Background:
I'm using Access 2000 and have a form with several listboxes on it (listB, listP, listT) I'm need to find a way to link items from different boxes. I have a matchID in the table and figure on setting the null match ID in the selected fields to the ID of the other [as in:
table listB
id = 1001
matchID = 2001

table listP
id = 2001
matchID = 1001 ]

I would then exclude the mathced items from my listboxes.

My Problem:
I can't select items from multiple listboxes. When I select a record in listP, it deselects the highlighted record from listB. Can this be overcome in access 2000? I have a large user base and would like to not have to force an upgrade just yet.

Thanks all.

I just found a thread on another forum where the person talks about using a third box to store the selected values. Would this be a better method? I've thought about checkboxes too, but I want to ensure a one to one ratio of linked items from listP to listB, etc.
