Database window is lost - not the typical issue

P: n/a
After setting up an import spec, I went back to my main screen and
found that the database window was gone. I've been working in Access
for 10 years and this has never happened before.

I've seen this message on the group discussions many times and I know
how to start with the shift key or press the f11 key when in the
database, but these things aren't working. I have always had the
"display database window" checked in the start up for this database.
I unchecked it, started the database, then checked it, and restarted.
No go. This window is just gone. There is a horizontal bar, but it
doesn't move, so if the window is somewhere below or to the right of
the horizon on my screen, I can't get to it. What do I do now?

I assume you are doing an import in code or macro? Not sure why the db
window is disappearing but sometimes you need to give Access/Jet time to
catch up. Try adding this code:
' give the DoCmd.Transfer... time to process
DoEvents
DbEngine.Idle dbRefreshCache
DoEvents

' then select item in db window
DoCmd.SelectObject acTable, , True
See if that works for you. (I'm assuming A2003 or earlier...)
