Stuck on Text Boxes

hey everyone,

I need help with updating certain fields on a form i am creating. The concept is easy, the user would go in and enter text into a field along with a seperate date field to keep track.

The problem comes when they have to update the field at a later date, because the original text needs to remain as a reference. and if there was to be a 3rd 4th 5th...updates all would need to be kept.

is there any way around this? pls ask if you need some clarification. i am using access 2003 for windows xp

All the Updates should be contained within a Child Table that would have a 1 to MANY Relationship with a Parent (Main)Table. It would then be a simple matter to store as many Updates as you like by just entering them into a Sub-Form contained on the Main Form.

Thanks for the post ADezii, it was exactly the kind of thing i was looking for.

But i am having a bit of a problem with the subform. when i switch records on the main form, it still shows the records i had previously inputed in the subform. what i would like is a fresh set of records in the subform, for every new record in the main form.

Also, would you know how to retreive only the latest date from the subform records in a query?

Thanks for the help!

You should never have to Refresh the Sub-Form while navigating the Main (Parent) Form. Under Properties (All Tab) of the Sub-Form, check your Link Child Fields and Link Master Fields Properties and see that the Linking Fields are correct.

alright, got that fixed. so here is hopefully the final problem...when creating a report all the sub form records appear, however i want only one to appear, which is the most recent update.

the subform consists of two fields "updates" and "date". how can i make it so only the most recent update, IE the latest date, appears along with all the information on the main form, on a report.

You can try switching the Record Source for the Main Form, setting Group By for relevant Fields, and set Max([Date] in the Query.
