linking excel tables

I am trying to link an excel spreadsheet to a access database,the problem is that i lose a lot of my data in the transfer? I think it is the data type,but being a linked table i cant change it.

The first 20 rows of the excel table determine the data type. Just make sure the first 20 rows reflect the data type you want to use.
