Cannot Open an Access 2003 .mdb File

P: 2
I am a newbie -- just finished one course in Access 2003, so I know enough to be dangerous. During the past few months I created a database for my business and had been using it quite satisfactorily until yesterday when it failed to open! I am distraught. My most recent backup in two days older than the version that will not open and I hate the thought of picking through and trying to update the backup with two days worth of data.

I already tried the Access utility for "Compact and Repair" and absolutely nothing happens. I also downloaded Jet Compact Utility 4.0 and it created a destination file which also could not be opened. Plus I got no error messages indicating why not.

Can anyone out there tell me what to do?

Thanks,
Paula Roberts

Always a good idea when things really go nuts is to create a new, blank database and try importing all your objects (tables, forms, queries, etc) into it from the bad database.

You are a GENIUS! Thanks for the suggestion to import from
the corrupted file. I would have never come up with that one
myself.

It seems to have worked. All the tables, forms etc imported and are
readable.

I would be happy to pay you a consulting fee -- you just saved me a lot of
time. Email me an invoice!
