Access SubForm Constantly Refreshing

P: 2
Hello, I hope you can help me out...

Ok so here is the setup, I have a form which contains a subform. The subform seems to refresh multiple times without having the click on anything.

If I click on a dropdown on the parent form this should refresh the subform which it does, however once it does the first refresh with the data, it then seems to refresh again but a line at a time but a lot slower.

Does anyone have any ideas, as cant seem to find a solution.

I hope you can help, if you need any more information then please get in contact.

I have had a similar problem. In Code View you should have something liek this

Expand|Select|Wrap|Line Numbers
  1. Private Sub yourdropdown_AfterUpdate()
  2. subformname.Requery
  3. End Sub
  4.
This will refresh the entire subform however it will only do it after you selected something from your combo or enter text in a field and click off.

Hope it helps.

Hi Brad,

Thanks for your comments, however it refreshed even if you click into another window, say internter explorer and then back into Access, it then refreshed the subform, it doesnt happen on other parts of the project though.

Could it be a setting on the SubForm, any more ideas would be great.

Thanks
Jon

It sounds to me like either:
1. you are refreshing or requerying in the current event of your form/subform, or.
2 you may refreshing on the OnChange event of your combobox. The change event responds to each keystroke rather than to the entire field as characters are typed in. See if you notice a difference between selections made by your mouse and selections made by typing in the selection item.

If neither of the above resolve your problem, please post all code that you have for your combobox, or diagnosing your problem will be difficult at best.
