question about relationships

P: 5
Im sure this question is very easy but i cant find a solution so I would appreciate all the help that I can get.

this is the situation, I have two tables once is CONTACTS one is JOBS
now in the every JOB needs and OWNER and CLIENT, whose information is in the contact information.

Now CONTACTS has a field for LAST NAME and FIRST NAME. I designed JOBS so that it looks back at CONTACTS when fillinout this infomation, well since the lasts names are unique that is fine but then when i select first names, i have to go down the list of all first names (which sometimes are repeated like 20 Johns and 15 Kevins so its extremely long) which causes a lot of room for error.

So I would like to have FIRST NAME in JOBS related to LAST NAME in JOBS, which is already related back to LAST NAME in CONTACTS so that the new list that comes when im filling out the first name will not include all name but just the names with the LAST NAME I already selected.

Can someone help me?
thanks

Don't store either the first name or the last name. In the contacts table you should have a unique id for each of the contacts. Store that id but use a combo box field and hide the stored id but show the first name and last name.

In your jobs table create a field named owner and one named client and do the following for both.

Change the datatype of the field to Lookup Wizard and follow the wizards instructions so that you return the ContactID, FirstName and LastName of the Contacts table and store the ContactID. The wizard should prompt you to hide the Id.
