Access 2002 Runtime crashing when Compacting on Close

Hello folks,

Has anyone ever experienced the Access 2002 runtime crashing when the
"Compact on Close" option is set for an MDE file?

We are currently having this problem on a number of internal machines,
and have been struggling to find a lead for several days now, to no
avail.

MSAccess.exe is consistently crashing with Vbe6.dll (DLL version
6.4.99.72), with an offset of 00134011. The crash _only_ happens when
"Compact on Close" is set. When the option is turned off, things work
fine.

I have been able to manually compact & repair this MDE using a full
copy of Access 2002, and I have even tried decompiling the MDB,
recompiling, then creating a new MDE - no luck.

Any leads would be appreciated.
