Optimizing MS Access 2007 over VPN

Hello, I am new here and needed a little help if you wouldn't mind.

I've built an application for a company that I also use for other work I do for them. I have several tables, queries, forms, and a few reports. I have a lot of VBA code behind the scenes. The application is about 6 mbs. When accessing it over the VPN the application runs really, really slow. I need to find a way to increase the speed of the application so that everyone can work in it without the huge delays. Obviously, it runs normally locally.

Sorry keyeraines

This question fell through the cracks. I'm afraid I can't be of much help other than the fact that slowing down of applications over a VPN connection seems to be a common problem. Essentially as I understand it the slow connection is because of the internet speed or lack thereof. Essentially this type of connection is not recommended for use with Access applications.

As of 2010 broadband connections have mitigated this issue. Performance can also be enhanced if a continuous connection is maintained to the back-end database throughout the session rather than opening and closing it for each table access. If Access Database performance over VPN or WAN suffers, then a client using Remote Desktop Protocol (such as Microsoft Terminal Services) can provide an effective solution. Access databases linked to SQL Server or to Access Data Projects work well over VPNs and WANs.

Is your data stored in Access, on an SQL server? Is your application just a front-end?
