Trouble exporting to .dat file

I have created a query that I want to export to a .dat file to use
with another program. The problem that I am having is that the .dat
file it creates has the verticle and horizontal lines in it that
"draw" the grid. Can somebody help me create a .dat file that only
has the data from the query.

I don't know how you're exporting, but DoCmd.TransferText doesn't do
that. Look it up in the Help file.

Is it an ordinary select query?
What is the data source for the query?
Are you using a DataGrid control?
