MS Access, VB Coding Error

3
Hi all

I have a table, Exam with the following fields

Id
Name
StartDate
EndDate
Status

I want to write a expression that determines examStatus. I have written the code, so that 'on enter' the examStatus is updated with the following IFF statment in VB

Expand|Select|Wrap|Line Numbers
  1. IFF(Exam.StartDate <= Date >= Exam.EndDate, "Active", "Expired")
Doing this I get an error msg:

Sub or Function not defined

I have tried all possible alternatives but havent had any luck

any help will be much apprieciated

thanks

I'm not exactly sure what you're trying to do with this:

Exam.StartDate <= Date >= Exam.EndDate

but if you're trying to compare StartDate and EndDate with today's date you need something like this:

IIF(( Exam.StartDate <= Date) And ( Exam.EndDate<=Date), "Active", "Expired")

This one's simpler than it looks - You're trying to use IIf() but spelling it IFF().
