Cannot make changes to linked objects

I have an Excel spreadsheet that is linked as a table in my database. I can make objects in my db based off of the linked spreadsheet, but I cannot make changes to any of the data. The only way I can make changes to that data is if I open up the spreadsheet and make my edits in there. Is there a way for me to "unlock" the data in Access?

I can't get my test to have any problems. Even when the spreadsheet is open in Excel my Access table can still update the data.
From what you say the file is not read/only as you can edit it in Excel?

hello NeoPa, long time no see. Busy with work so visits are few are far between now.

Regarding these objects u created, are they queries? do these queries contain anything like aggregate functions or unions or anything like that?
Have u tried just creating a simple query and see if u can edit it from there?
i.e. select * from myexcelfiletable

Hiya,
I guessed you were busy, but you've got the Expert tag at last I see. They were a long time being set up.
I simply set up a linked table to an individual spreadsheet, then amended it in DataSheet view. Nothing fancy at all really.
