ms-access to oracle migration

SELECT [FDDS-Customers].REGION, [FDDS-Customers].DISTRICT, [FDDS-Customers].TERRITORY, [FDDS-Customers].[CUSTOMER NAME], [FDDS-Customers].ADDRESS, [FDDS-Customers].[ADDRESS 2], [FDDS-Customers].CITY, [FDDS-Customers].STATE, [FDDS-Customers].ZIP, [FDDS-Customers].[PHONE NUMBER], [FDDS-Customers].[CONTRACT NUMBER], [FDDS-Customers].[CONTRACT TITLE], [FDDS-Customers].[CONTRACT DESCRIPTION], [FDDS-Customers].[CONTRACT TYPE], Format([CUSTOMER LINKED DATE],"m/d/yyyy") AS Expr1, Format([SCHEDULED END DATE],"m/d/yyyy") AS Expr2
FROM [FDDS-Customers]
ORDER BY [FDDS-Customers].REGION, [FDDS-Customers].DISTRICT, [FDDS-Customers].TERRITORY;


I am migrating the above code to oracle....but when i give an order by same as above , it does'nt produce the result in thw same order , in which the above query returns in Ms-access.....there is some hidden or internal sort done....can u let me know how this internal sort works ...plz and how do i implement it in orcale

If I remember correctly Oracle is a case sensitive sort while Access is not. So you may want to convert the sort by field to the same case throughout.

Rabbit is suggesting your problem may lie in the record values rather than the query. If you records are in different case i.e. some in lowercase, some in upper case and some in proper case then oracle will sort them based on their case value. Access ignores case.

Basically, ORDER BY UCase([Text Field Name]).

Note that this is for Access as I don't remember what the corresponding function in Oracle is.
