Access 2000 Custom Message Screen Creation

17
I have created a very simple template that when a certain entry shows in a field
a Button displays for Additional information.
I got that working. Which is amazing for me.....

Where I am stuck is the following.

When the user hits that button I want a simple but nicely aligned
window to open with just a text message on how to get the additional information.

I tried using the MSGBox and it looks too Microsofty. Yuk.

I also tried making a new form with just a large Label on it and I could not get the text to CR-LF properly so the three lines showed up nicely.

I want just a centered static popup screen with a simple close button on it.

Any SIMPLE way to do this? I tried including an OBJECT. Only problem is if they don't have the particular OBJECT program loaded to OLE to, it crashes.

Help.....

You could try playing around with the Access msgbox with the following:

You can easily apply bold formatting to part of the text in a message box. To see an example, put the following procedure in a module:
Expand|Select|Wrap|Line Numbers
  1. Public Sub MBox(subject As String, message As String, title As String)
  2.    MsgBox subject & chr(10) & "@" & message & "@@1@@1", vbOkOnly, title
  3. End Sub
To use the procedure you would need the following line of code:
Expand|Select|Wrap|Line Numbers
  1. MBox "YourSubjectHere", "YourMessageHere", "YourTitleHere"

I was hoping for something flashy, like a VB Splash screen effect.

Something that fills the whole center of the page.

So, I did not miss something built in that will allow me to create a more elaborate "panal" than a simple MsgBox.

Too bad. I have other places I could use these more elaborate pop up screens.

We can help you customise a form to act as a splash screen if you wish?

I just tried this another way.....

I created a second table with only one record in it.

A memo field that had the text I want to display.

Then I created a new Form to display this one record
with a close form button below it.

In Design view it looks great. In Form View, a 1" extra background is added on and the form won't center even though I have it set to center.

Thus the form stays at the top left of the screen and grows an extra inch on the right side of the background.

Yes, I designated it as Popup and also checked all my size and grow/shrink settings.

In Design it looks like exactly what I want....

I know this is a strange way to create a message screen but it's the closet I could come with my limited knowledge.

Sometimes it's no fun not to bee really good at this...

Open the form in design view and maximize the form. Is the background larger than you want to view? Fix the background to the size you want. Then minimize the form again. Now make sure the size is as you want it and hold down the control button when you close the form and save it.

I tried this and when I switched from designview to form view, the form minimied itself into a small unit, buried itself off into the top left hand corner of my machine and froze up Access.

I tried it three different times and ways and the same thing happened.

A whole day gone trying to make a "bell" work. I used the novices best friend.
