Creating a report based on dates

P: 9
Hi

Please excuse my poor description of the task.

I have to make a report for my database. I need to have a report for each month. I need to make it so that each report contains every weekday of the month and places the results into a table, which has 7 columns. The other 6 columns need to provide a True/False grid based on the column titles(Session Names), which are the same on all reports.

The True/False part needs to be filled in with values taken from a link table that contains the "SessionID" and "StudentID". Basically, when a session is booked, The studentID and SessionID are added to this table. I need a way of finding the sessions each student has booked and putting them onto the grid on my report.

How can I do this?
Would it be easier just to create a report that shows the sessions for one week, as these are exactly the same for every week of the month?

Thanks!

Sorry hwt

But the outline you have given is just too confusing. Can you post the SQL of the query that this report would be based on?

You're actually explaining your requirements from the middle. Referring to items in your database we have no clue about. Try to reword it so that it tells us enough to help, and remember, we know nothing unless you tell us about it first.

sorry about the poor explanation guys! I'll try and make this one a bit more understandable.

I have to create a database to be used as a booking system at a local school. A specification of the system is that it should be able to produce monthly invoices that take into account school holidays.

The booking system is to be used by a day care club. It will book the children into any number of sessions that run on any day of the week, but only during school term time. The children attend the same sessions each week.

I need to know how to produce a report that contains a monthly account for all the sessions the child will attend over a month, assuming it goes to the same sessions every week. It must ignore weekends and school holidays.

In my database i have a table for each of the following: Session details, Holiday dates, Student details, the days of the week, Prices of the sessions.

I hope the problem is a bit clearer now!

Thanks

That is actually a lot clearer :)
It would also be very helpful if you could post the MetaData of the tables so that we know how your concept of it all fits together.
Here is an example of how to post table MetaData :
Table Name=tblStudent
Expand|Select|Wrap|Line Numbers
  1. Field; Type; IndexInfo
  2. StudentID; Autonumber; PK
  3. Family; String; FK
  4. Name; String
  5. University; String; FK
  6. Mark; Numeric
  7. LastAttendance; Date/Time
This (Working with date exclusions etc) is actually quite a hard concept to code so this may not be easy. This is probably going to be a big question.
