Problem counting dates

66
Hi,

Im creating a database that is used to report scrap problems on a production line, Scrap details are entered 3 times daily.

within the database there is a reporting section where the user can export data to an excel spreadsheet where a graph is created. the graph is supposed to display daily scrap.

im having a problem acumalting the 3 daily entries to one entry.

for example: i have 3 entries for the 20/03/2007 i then need to calculate 3 feilds within this record. as there are 3 records with the same date i need to calculate the three fields in each record so i get a daily percentage and not each entry?

sorry if its a bit confusing.... will try to explain more if there is any misunderstanding

Something like ...
Expand|Select|Wrap|Line Numbers
  1. SELECT datefield, Sum([ScrapAmount]) As TotalScrap
  2. FROM TableName
  3. GROUP BY datefield
  4.
