Hi, Andrew.
Database or object is read-only.
Is the file extension HTML or HTM? If not, you'll get this error message.
Or if you have certain combinations of Windows operating systems, Microsoft
Office, Jet, MDAC, and their service packs, you'll get this error message.
When we find out which ones you have we can make a recommendation on how to
fix it. I'm going out of town shortly so someone else will probably have to
diagnose the problem should you be willing to reveal the pertinent
information.
I find this odd because I can get this data thru Excel's web query
function.
Linking to an updateable data source isn't quite the same thing. Your
observation that this is odd behavior is rather like arguing "What do you
mean my check bounced? There's no way it could bounce. I still have checks
in my checkbook!"
HTH.
Gunny

Hi All,
I'm trying to link to data on a website with Access. When I try File/
Get External Data/ link tables/ HTML/, I get the following error
message:
Database or object is read-only.
I find this odd because I can get this data thru Excel's web query
function.
Any ideas or alternative approaches would be appreciated!
Andrew
