unable to open MDB file on server

P: n/a
Hi,

situation :

MDB file on SBS2003 server, used by 4 or 5 users simultaniously (on XPP pc's)
witout problems. File is always in use by one of these users, so .ldb is
always present.

problem :

on a newly configured XPP portable I made a shortcut on the desktop to the
MDB file and when I doubleclick it nothing happens (no error messages ; just
nothing at all). When I try to open the mdb file by clicking it via the
windows explorer (on mapped network drive) nothing happens.

Opening the MDB by first opening MSAccess and then selecting the database
works...

What could be the problem here ?
