Linked Table Download--->Main Data Table

I have a linked table DOWNLOAD (MS excel spreadsheet) that I copied all the information over to in MAIN DATA table, but added more fields to MAIN DATA.

How do I create the relationship to update MAIN DATA when the linked DOWNLOAD spreadsheet is updated.

Thanks in advance for all your assistance!

Why have a linked table AND a copy of that table that just has extra fields. Why not just add the extra fields to the linked table and get rid of the copy?

Pardon my stupidity, can I do that? I get my data from an entire separate database and then import it in from the excel spreadsheet to access called DOWNLOAD. I can't mess with the data from the excel spreadsheet because it is locked and will not allow me to add any fields.

If you have absolutely no way to unlock that spreadsheet, then just run an append query.

That depends on what type of amendments are expected.
Additions; Deletions; and Amendments all need to be handled differently in SQL.
If you want it to reflect the Excel table exactly you will need a DELETE query; An UPDATE query; and an Append query to handle all of these types of changes.
