Easy for you, new to me

I am using MS Access 2003 I have a unique id that contains some info I
need. Within the table, I want to extract the middle 6 digits.

For example, I have 010012345600110, and I want to create a field that
contains 123456, for all cases.

Do I use a query to do this?

Thanks.

Try checking the Access help file for the Mid function. This should
get you what you need.

Assuming that the original ID is always the length you gave as an example and
the numbers to be extracted are 6 digits long:

NewField = Mid(OriginalID,5,6)
