Access 2003 Open Exclusive Error

Ian
I have a single file Access database that was written in Access 2000, I
have had the MDE over a network of 3x PC’s for several years without any
problems. Now I am using Access 2003 but I have left the file in Access
2000 format, when I try to open the file over the network I get an error
message:

“The Microsoft Jet database engine cannot open the file as its open
Exclusively by another user, or you need permission to view its data”

This message appears even if no other PC’s have it open, it seems I can
open the original MDB file but not the MDE.

Any help would be Appreciated

Classic example of why it's a bad idea to share DB's. Split it into a
front-end / back-end and you'll likely see the problem go away.

With everyone out of the FE, delete the .LDB file with the same name as your
FE.
