Credit card processing possible with Access 2003?

PW
Hi,

Is it possible to enable credit card processing in our Access 2003
application where the user would swipe a card and all the information
on the card would be entered into the database?

pw,

The short answer is yes, but you will need:

1. A scanning device that scans credit card info.
2. An application that loads the info into the Access DB.
3. A gateway to a CC authorization provider.
4. An encryption algorithm to encrypt the CC info before it is inserted into
the database.
5. A policy and application infrastructure to determine who can view the
unencrypted info.

You should be able to find all of the above (except the policy) by searching
Google.

Oh boy. Seems like a PITA. I think I will skip it as this is the
first time we've been asked about it. Thanks!

A few of these steps would be easier if a part of this app would be
designed as a webapp. Perhaps using a webbrowser control.
Still, far from DoCmd.SendPayment.

This link is for some software that may do what you are looking for.

I just did a google search for you, so I don't know if this exactly
what you are after, but reading the product description it looks like
it could do what you want it to do.
(get the ActiveX / VB Edition if you do decide to trial it)

Not over the web though. Not yet. We've given up for the time being
on getting our application to be a .NET web-enabled one.

Thanks though
