Can't open mail session

Hi,

A client just called me this afternoon and said she had a problem.
While trying to send mail from Access she sees the message:
"Microsoft Access can't open the mail session. Check your mail application ...."

I *know* this message as I had the *very same* message when using Access 97 while Access2000 was installed too.
The 'solution' for me has been to use Access2000, and... no problemo anymore.

BUT this client *is* using Access2000 with XP Pro on a fresh PC.
I just installed her PC again from scratch two weeks ago because she had a very destructive virus.
I installed Office2k and only a few other programs.

I know this question has been asked a *lot* but there are only a few answers given...
MS covers this message with kb Q283173 (problem with Access 97 and 2000)
http://support.microsoft.com/default...b;en-us;283173
But the regkey is NOT present on the client's PC.

I have seen LOTS of posts about this, just Googled again for more than an hour.
Most of these questions are not answered at all, or answered with the kb article...

Anybody has found a *real* solution for this ??

Thanks,
Arno R

My solution is never to use SendObject and never to use Outlook. If I have
to send mail I use CDO. I believe CDO came first with Windows 2000 and is
still installed with Windows XP. It's relatively simple. I don't know if
that's a "real" solution but it works for me.

Thanks Lyle,
I have been using CDO as well indeed.
Thanks to you I know how CDO works...

Clients however are used to Outlook, and well you know ...blah blah...

So CDO is not a *real* solution.
I am looking for an answer indeed, not a workaround.
