Moving an MDB to Access 2007 with user-level security

I am sorry if this is the wrong group to ask, if so please point me in
the correct direction.

My problem is I have an MDB file with user-level security on it
(mdw). When i move it over to a system that has Access 2007 and try
to open it, I get a user name and password prompt. The admin username
and password from the other system doesn't work.

Is there anything special I need to do? If I could I would actually
love to remove this damn user-level security.

Thanks

Hi.
(mdw). When i move it over to a system that has Access 2007 and try
to open it, I get a user name and password prompt.
That means the current workgroup (which ought to be the default workgroup)
has a password for the default Admin user. That's inconvenient. Every
database you open in Access 2007 will require the User ID and password to
open the file, whether it's secured or not.
Is there anything special I need to do?
Join a workgroup that doesn't require authentication, then use a Windows
shortcut to temporarily join the secure workgroup for the current session.
Try the following syntax (all one line):

"<Full path to Office>\MSAccess.EXE" "<Full path to DB>\MyDB.MDB" /wrkgrp
"<Full path to secure workgroup>\Secure.MDW"

I don't think that is correct. It only means that the default admin user can not log in the db.
That only means the security *might* be done as it needs to be done...
You need to log in using the *same* mdw that is used by the other version OR to get rif of the security.

To get rid of the security of the mdb just open the mdb in the earlier version (logged in as 'owner' or admin while 'using' the mdw) and create a new mdb.
Import all objects in this new mdb.
Result: The database is not secured anymore and can be used with Access 2007 ??
The last I do not know for sure as I don't use Access 2007 yet...

I don't think that is correct.
Test it for yourself. When he tries "to open it, I get a user name and
password prompt." Join a workgroup that has no password set for the default
Admin user. You won't be prompted for a User ID and password when you open
_any_ Access database by double-clicking on the file name. (You won't be
able to open it, either, if it's a secured database.) Add a password to the
Admin user. Next time you open _any_ Access database by double-clicking on
the file name, you'll be prompted for a User ID and password.

One gets the User ID and password prompt if and only if the default Admin
user has a password assigned in the workgroup one is currently joined to.
One doesn't get this prompt merely because one is attempting to open a
secured database.

You are right Gunny. I had that 'prompting' mixed-up.
