Access Form to show sub form details based on query and updated query results

I have two forms a main and sub. On the main form, I want to select a given set of criteria (i.e., "Project"), which pulls from a query and udpates a report number at the same time. I want to display the results of the project selected in a subform, based on a query I designed for the Projects. I want to be able to select check boxes (Yes/No) in the subform query data based on project details, and then have that data post to a table for reporting purposes. How do I go about doing this? I have struggled for hours.

Thanks

Could you explain this piece a bit more?

Why use a query and not just the table that relates to projects. You must obvioulsy have a table labeled projects and another table which holds the detials of the project correct? If not could you provide the structure of the tables that make up this query?

Thanks
