Exporting Removes Phone # Mask

I have an Access database which I export to a .csv file for searching with a script online. In both the table and the form, I have an input mask for phone number in the phone field. It views in both the table and the query (for sorting) as (xxx)xxx-xxxx

But when I export to .csv - it is removing the mask and just displaying as xxxxxxxxxx.

I did an .xls export to see if that worked - but it didn't

How can I get this corrected so the .csv export includes the proper formatting??

Try this in order to preserve formatting:
__1 Select, then right click the Object
__2 Export
__3 In the Export as Dialog Box choose Text Files(*.txt; *.csv; etc.) for the Save as type.
__4 Once this has been selected, the Save formatted check box becomes enabled. Select this option (it is to the left of the Save button)
__5 Save.

The input mask is composed of three sections. Each section is seperated by a semicolon ;

First Section: Specifies the input mask itself; for example, !(999) 999-9999.

Second Section: Specifies whether Microsoft Access stores the literal display characters in the table when you enter data. If you use 0 for this section, all literal display characters (for example, the parentheses in a phone number input mask) are stored with the value; if you enter 1 or leave this section blank, only characters typed into the control are stored.

Third Section: Specifies the character that Microsoft Access displays for the space where you should type a character in the input mask. For this section, you can use any character; to display an empty string, use a space enclosed in quotation marks (" ").

So the problem is that you may have an input mask but it may not store the characters unless you tell it to.

Try using !(000) 000-0000;0
