Too many queries?

14
I am trying to create a database in Access 2003 that uses a series of queries to calculate the balance on different accounts. All of my calculations are working great, however it seems that I am running out of space in the queries. Each month I use a query to find out - the interest of the month, the transactions in that month, the interest on the transactions each month, totals for those and then the fininshing balance for the month. It runs perfect until June I get an error that says "system resources exceeded". It works fine for the first five months.

I'm not sure how to get rid of some queries as I need them to gather the correct information from each month. The interest in my database needs to compounded monthly. So I get a balance at the end of each of month and start over again. I am open to any suggestions about the design of my database.

Am I using too many queries? Why does it work until June and then stop.

Can you create a generic query that accepts month as a parameter?
Then you don't need to create a separate query for each month.

To create such a query just do following
column_name = [Please enter month here]
Without seeing the database it's hard to say what is wrong.
Creating generic queries may well help.
I imagine it works until June because it builds up as it processes through each month and finally runs out of resources somewhere around June.

I would switch to using a self written function in a module to do the calculation.
These can be used in qieries, but will slow down the process.
