I am cramming to learn this by tomorrow for an interview. I've been at it since Thurs and I know I'm missing a important step but can't find the answer to it. I am building my database and I can't figure out how to link them in relationships. It keeps coming up blank..nothing in the relationship box.
I open up 2 out of the 3 databases and they have the little + in the corner and I click on it and it shows me another database. Cool, that's what I want. But I can't get that to work in the 1st(main) database I created. What am I doing wrong?
Any help would be great!
Thanks,
Anne
These little +'s (SubDatasheets) that you are referring to (Table View) indicate that a Child Table exists for the current Table you are viewing via a Primary/Foreign Key pre-established Relationship. Define your Relationship as indicated by NeoPa, and if the + does not exist in the Parent Table, do the following:
Insert or modify a subdatasheet in a Table or Query in an Access database
__1 Open a table or query in Datasheet view.
__2 On the Insert menu, click Subdatasheet.
__3 Click the Tables, Queries, or Both tab, depending on which kind of object you want to insert as a subdatasheet.
__4 Click a table or query in the list.
__5 In the Link Child Fields box, click the field to be the foreign key or matching field for the table or query that is the subdatasheet you chose in step 4.
__6 In the Link Master Fields box, click the field to be the primary key or matching field for the table or query that is the main datasheet you opened in step 1.
