Hidden Menus

Hi I am working on a database own of my excoworkers started. The problem is that when we open the database it starts with a startup screen but does let us see the menus of tables, query, forms, etc. And tools menu does show either.

Press and hold down the <Shift> key. Start up your database while still holding the <Shift> key down. This should bypass the startup form and take you inside Access.

Now go to Tools => Startup

You'll see Display Form/Page

Scroll to the top of this box and select NONE

Make sure the boxes are checked for any menus/toolbars that you want to appear

The next time you open your database it should open up with the Objects Dialog box and all menus/toolbars you selected available.

Good Luck!

It seems that you have a Global Menu Bar (Aplication wide) defined for your Database. Press CTRL+F11 to toggle to the Built-In Menu Bar, then Tools, Startup, Menu Bar. If this Option is anything other than (default) reset it to (default), Delete the Global Menu Bar, and you should now be OK. Let me know how you made out.

See MissingLinq's post (#2) for fuller instructions on configuring the Startup options, but assuming hotkeys have not been disabled, a simple F11 (Show Database Window) will enable that window to show even after the database has opened into your project.
It is possible to lock it down so tightly that nothing can work. In these cases a back-door is often left open which generally consists of clicking or double-clicking on a control on the main form. Let's hope your erstwhile colleague hasn't been quite that thorough ;).

I just reread the OP and realised that you've probably made better sense of it than I did earlier. Nice catch.
BTW Off topic.
Can you send me a test PM so that I know I can communicate with you outside of the forum posts. If that's not possible reply in here and I'll tidy it up later.
