Searching a subform

Hi and apologies for duplicates. I am having some posting issues so
thought i'd start afresh.

Please treat me as a beginner so I get very simple explanations!

The below is driving me crazy;

I want a form (frm book appointment) that has a subform with a
datasheet table / query (all customer records).
I want to be able to enter search terms in up to 6 textboxes on my main
form, so that the records in the subform displayed match the criteria
in the textboxes.

Then I wish to be able to select a record in my subform and enter the
details of the selected customer into fields on my main form.

Please could I ask for plain and simple explanation of the method of
doing this. I have read and searched and am getting more an more
confused. I do not know whether my subform should be a table and
filtered by the textbox terms or whether the subform should be a query
based on the textboxes as criteria. Either way I cannot get this to
work.

Further to this I do not know how to get my selection on my subform
into my main form fields.

It is so very frustrating when it takes all day to try and find the
best way to do something, and when I still do not have a solution over
12 hours later. There are times access makes me want to scream as no
matter how much I learn I never know what I am doing!!!!!!!!!!

If you are using your real email addy in these postings, I sent you an
example database in A2003 thas provides some examples. Maybe the sample
database will help out.
