FE BE: Diferent version. Is this a problem ?

I know that an Access-FE (frontend) can use a BE (backend) from another earlier version.
Question: Are there any caveats there when doing so??

Situation: I still have an old Access 2.0 !! application (FE-BE) that workes a charm.
This app is in use for about 10 years now. Still running perfectly on any Windows OS until now.
(Vista is NOT tested yet ...)

Now one organisation would like to use this app.
No problem, BUT they are using Citrix AND they do NOT want any 16 bit app ...

So I converted the app (FE) to Access2000 (can be used also if one has Access XP or Access 2003 installed).
The FE runs fine now and could still use (link to) the Access 2.0 BE.
(So Jet 4.0 uses Jet 2.5 here)

Question: Do I need to convert the BE to Access2000 also??
Would this be a bad choice to use the 'old' BE indeed ??
Bad for what ?? Corruption-risk ??

I do *not* notice any difference in performance using the A2k FE - A2.0 BE or the A2k FE - A2k BE combination.
But I might overlook some caveats here.

Any thoughts ??

FYI:
I also have an other A97 app (FE-BE) where I needed to converted the FE to A2k.
So with this app combinations of A2k FE - A97 BE and A97 FE - A97 BE are in use.
I have no problems with this scenario. (Jet 4.0 vs Jet 3.5)

Thanks,

To add to Tom's observations, I can't imagine any reason not to update the
back end to a JET 4 version, unless you do still need to use this db with
Access 2 for some reason.

In terms of performance, we had a client who ran one of our apps in a mixed
environment for a couple of years, i.e. some A97 front ends and some A2000
front ends, so the back end was A97. When then finally updated all the A97
workstations, we updated the back end to A2000 format. They claimed that
there was a significant performance benefit as soon as we did that. Some
tables had around 200k records. It makes sense, since the JET 4 calls no
longer had to be converted back to JET 3.5 calls.

Indeed there is a reason why I considered this:
The app is still in use at various organisations, so I still need to support the app.
Sometimes when there is a call for help I ask for a zipped BE to investigate.
I have written some specific tools (Access 2.0) to quickly check for errors and such in the BE.

This makes sense indeed, so I will convert the BE also.
