A2K - report now not working - why

P: n/a
Interesting this one. My unremarkable report opens and after the open event
code runs, instead of the various format events, the close code immediately
runs. I am then returned to the form with a data mismatch error.

I imported the report from an earlier working version and it behaves the
same.

I can't see anything wrong with the code so this is a real head-scratcher
for me.

Any things I could try?

thanks

You are sure the earlier working version is the *very* same scenario?
Is this the same Access version??

For further debugging I would try to comment out the code and see what happens.
Then maybe activate your code (step by step) again.

Yes same scenario, always Access 2000. The calling form has been modified a
bit since but only slightly.

The exact error is Datatype mismatch in criteria expression , 3464

Then, of course, you need to examine the criteria very carefully. If the
modification to the calling form was to a field referenced in the criteria,
then you have a good lead.

Yes, i have just been doing that but it looks ok. If I remove the query
from the recordsource of the report it opens fine. Yet I have recreated the
query from scratch - hmmm, I might try importing it from a good version.
Really, really strange.

Got it working once I unbound each control one at a time and tracked it to a
textbox with an IIF statement. Removed that and it loaded fine, then added
code in the format event to duplicate the functionality. Boy, I used to
think programming was fun.

Look at it this way: if it was easy, they could get a minimum wage person
from a temp agency to do it.

Or this way: if you hadn't had this to occupy your time and energy, you
might have been out on the street getting into trouble.
