Hi there,
I'm brand new to Access and may be trying to do too much too soon, but
I wanted to get some expert advice on how the best way to go about what
I am trying to accomplish would be.
I am trying to modify the Microsoft Template at the following address
(http://office.microsoft.com/en-us/te...CT101426031033)
to work as an issues tracker that imports and updates the issues from a
SQL 2005 database table.
The table in question is a list of invoices with a reference number,
date, status, and various other fields.
I want to pull the data based on the status field (where status=A) and
the date field (where todays date minus the document date 30 days).
I was able to accomplish this by linking the table to the Access DB and
creating an Append Query with the above criteria.
The problem with this method was the records kept appending even if
they were duplicates, what I was looking for is the fields to be
updated, while adding any new records that meet the criteria above.
Would I need to create a combination of an Append query and an Update
query?
What is the best way to accomplish both the update of existing records
and appending of new records that meet a certain criteria?
Any help would be much appreciated!
