Fields padded by spaces

I am having a problem where fields are being filled by spaces when data
is put in.

I.e. in a text field length 50, whatever is stored in there is padded
by spaces and the field length is always 50.

Any ideas why this is happening or how to stop it?

Thanks

Sounds like you have a fixed-width field here, instead of the variable width
that is the standard in Access.

You can't create this kind of field in the interface. It usually happens via
DDL because someone used a CREATE TABLE with CHAR(50) instead of TEXT(50).

Delete the field, and recreate it via the interface or TEXT(50).

For a reference that compares the DLL names to the names in the interface,
