Standard Access NavigationBar - AutoRepeat Not Working ???

P: n/a
The standard NavigationButtonBar at the bottom of my form was working
fine.
Now, without recognizable reason, the AutoRepeat capability of the
Access
forward and back buttons are not working. If I hold the Mouse button
down over the
button, I can on go record to record on each click, but can't get
autorepeat when
held down. I'll bet it's something simple!

My form contains a single table. Each record displays a single .jpg
image
in a linked Imageframe.

I did notice that an annoying filter box flashes my screen when I go
record to record,
and I'm sure it has to do with the .jpg images I'm using, and will have
to research the
Lebans.com site for a solution.

But, why No AutoRepeat ???

One other interesting observation.
If I change all the .JPG images to .BMP images the AutoRepeat
capability of the NavigationBars Fwr/Rev buttons work normally. As
soon as one .JPG image is re-introduced to the file the AutoRepeat
stops at that image, then AutoRepeat works again for the remaining file
of .BMP images.

What Gives ???

I'd guess that this is due to the 'Loading Image' dialog taking the focus away from the nav buttons. Have
you tried disabling the Loading Image dialog?

For details on how to do this see the following url:

I'll guess the "Loading Image" dialog temporarily receives the focus when it
is visible. Simply turn off this dialog and the Autorepeat functionality
will return.

Here is a snip from a previous post of mine on this issue.
The one thing you must do is turn of the Loading Image dialog. If you don't,
and quickly scroll through the records in Form view, or page quickly in
Print Preview, you run the risk of crashing Access. Use the Registry mod at
the Access MVP site:
Additionally, two issues in regards to the Registry modification pointed to
here:
http://www.mvps.org/access/api/api0038.htm
1) The Registry key MUST be "No" NOT "no" or "NO"
2) On systems with XP or on systems with more than one user account,
you must add/modify the key in both HKEY_CURRENT_USER and
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE.

Thank you for the response. I'm sure that many developers are
frustrated by this issue and I'm wondering what my options are,
considering that I want to distribute my application to many sites that
are single user and network based.

I basically have the following code in the OnCurrent property of the
MainForm to display an image that must be displayed record to record:

If Not (IsNull(Me.txtPhotoPath.Value)) Then
Me![imgFrame].Picture = Me![txtPhotoPath]
End

1-My MainForm contains one image for each record and this image will be
(100k bmp) or (35k jpg) depending on what I commit to in this project.
Since the LoadingImage dialog has not popped up with (bmp) files and
the AutoRepeat does work is it safe to say that I will not crash Access
on a fast scroll thru all the records (200 to 700) over a network when
committed to bmp files??? Or, must I somehow control the scroll speed
or resort to a non autorepeat scroll???

2-Since my image is displayed in a ImageBox, would it work better if I
used a Bound or Unbound OleBox???

3-Changing the registry is NOT an option because I plan to distribute
the application and this would require a registry modification to all
units before the app can be run. Is there a solution or concept of
displaying one image per record as described, using Access exclusively,
without 3rd party stuff???

Thanks
Greg
