Counting Names Beginning with Every Letter of Alphabet

P: n/a
I have been asked to give a report detailing how many names begin with
each letter. In other words the report should say the following:

Names beginning with:
A: 22
B: 33
C: 42
.....
Z: 1

I can create a query using Like "A*" to see that there are 22 names
beginning with A but how do I move that to a report for all of the
letters automatically.
Thank you.

1. Create a query using your table.

2. Depress the Total button on the toolbar.
Access adds a Total row to the design grid.

3. Type this into a fresh column of the Field row:
PrefixChar: Left([YourNameFieldHere],1)
Accept Group By in the Total row under this field.
Choose Ascending in the Sorting row.

4. Drag your primary key field into the grid.
In the Total row under this field, choose Count.
