Subform RecordSource query, records pulled

P: n/a

Say that there is a database for client information; there is a main
form that displays the client's name, and this form has one or more
subforms that display different types of information related to that

The main Form has RecordSource="SELECT clientid, clientname FROM
client_table;", and each subform has both Link Child and Master
The actual subform (let's call it 'frmPhoneNumbers') Form has
RecordSource="SELECT clientid, .phone1, phone2 FROM client_table;".

My question is, when the subform is loaded, is the entire query
specified in the RecordSource property executed and then filtered for
"clientid" (i.e. all records from client_table are returned), or is the
query modified with a WHERE clause and then executed (i.e. one record
is returned)?

I will be converting an Access application to use a SQL backend, and
feel that this is an important question.

Thank you very much,
Robert Waters
