Auto numbering in spreadsheet view

1
I would like to know how to turn off the auto number feature when entering data
in the spreadsheet view of an access form. When I enter a number in one record the next record automatically adds the next number in a sequence. I need to trun this feature off. Help!

View the table in design mode (right click on the table in the main menu) and select design view, then change the type from autonumber to whatever you'd like.

Good suggestion.

But it won't actually let you change from an autonumber. You have to add a new field and set it to data type number. Then copy accross all the values currently in the autonumber field.

Then delete the autonumber field. Don't forget to rename the new field to the same name as the deleted field.

There are other implications to this as you will have to add this number for all new records added to maintain integrity.

Or, if the field is of no further use, just delete it and save yourself a lot of hassle :).
