Cannot open web page with IP Address

Hi,

I am trying to open an intranet web page with a link in my access db.
In a text box I have the following code:

Me.DirectLink = ">TRACK DIRECT
<<#http://xx.xxx.xx.x/Company/Orders/Tracking/Company_Auth_Login_local.asp?UN="
& Me.UserID & "&PW=" & Me.Password & "#"

If I use a normal domain name such as www.bloggs.co.uk? ..... the
page opens, but when using an IP address, MS access says it cannot
download the information you requested ?

Do you have any clues as to how I can get around this ?
