Pivot Table Form not allowing Layout Edits

alexherrero
I'm developing a database using Access 2002 (XP), SP3, (10.6771.6817). I have created a form with a Pivot Table, and when reviewing it in my computer, everything is working ok (using Win XP SP2 English). But when I show that database in a Spanish Access version (10.4302.6714), he can open the form, but he do not have any context menu item enabled. Everything in the form's context menu is disabled. He can create another Pivot Table from the same query, but again, he can not move or edit fields, nor showing the field list. He tried the database in 2 different computers with the same result. When he selects the menu "PivotTable", only "Refresh" is enabled, and in my computer, everything is enabled.

The database is not "read only", nor the file itself.

I've tried Google with many kewords, but without any luck.

What could be happening? Any comment would be appreciated.

Check the references on the "error machine".

Open some VBA code (e.g. by pressing [CTRL+G]) and select Tools/References.
Each libraryname starting with "MISSING" must be unchecked and (e.g. microsoft DAO version x.xx) replaced when necessary.

As access doesn't cleanup added libraries, often unnecessary refenreces are present.
Just delete as many as possible without getting an error executing "Debug/compile all modules"

Thanks for your reply! I've checked it a couple of minutes ago and no, there are no MISSING components.

Any other suggestion? A "locked" form?

Is there a way to lock the Pivot Table, make it "read only"? I mean, if that could be happening, making it otherwise would be the solution...

Hmm, strange, looks like the Spanish database regards the database like a read-only one from an older Access version.
Did you try to use the "Database/Convert to" to create a working version. (e.g. first make it A2000 format and then back to A2002/3

I know of trouble when you go from a "language version" to an English version, but never found trouble the other way around...

Well, I made a mistake in my first post. I developed the database in a Spanish OS, using an English version of Access 2002. Could it be the issue? I really don't know how could that affect the database anyway...

When you use a reference to a form in the query criteria it will not "translate".
I have a dutch version and when entering:
forms!formname!fieldname
this gets converted to:
formulieren!formname!fieldname

In the US version this will give a crash for an unknown field "formulieren" :-)

So I develop always in a US version....

Ok, so I developed in a US version, but I need to execute the form in a Spanish version. But I don't think it is the issue, because he could make another Form, poining to the same query, and it gives him the same error: he cannot move or change anything in the Pivot Table except for Refreshing it...

Start with creating a new fresh database, import the table and check again.
That way we can check or the Access application does work properly.

Nov 16 '06 #9
Well, I did that yesterday and it did not change the error a bit.

What else could you think of?

Hmm, then I'm inclined to think something is wrong with the installed Access version.
First I would try a Repair of Office and next I would remove Office entirely and install it again. Finally you could try to install your English version and check it from there.

It's however rather timeconsuming :-(

Well, thanks Nico for your support. I was thinking this issue was something about configuration... Anyway, IŽll go onsite and will check it by lmyself.

Thanks!
