A Simple Person With Simple Question , Please Help

Hi

I have been challenged to build a database program for my place of work
I have no prior programming experience and all of this is totally new to me.

The program or database will store occurences and incidents and will be used by security staff logging events that happen at my place of work

I was advised by a programmer to use visual basic for this but recently I was told it would be easier to make it using MS Access.

Firstly , Would it be easier ?
Second , What version of Access would allow me to make a database program that

1:could be installed on another pc without Access
2:could be made into a stand alone program

any help would be greatly appreciated , im hoping to proove ppl wrong who say I wont be able to do it ...please bare in mind with any replys you may send , I have no experience doing this so need info in english lol

thank you very much for your time

Good ay Grissom,

first of all no matter what you do you will need to learn how to program , access uses many vba subroutines (visual basic) and it doesnt matter what modern programming language you use they mostly use the same type of visual interface for forms(VB , VC ,Delphi ) and so on. For a beginer access is fairly easy to start with but you will have to get some fundermentals of the language.

secondly for access to be deployed as a stand alone you will need to get the MS Office Developer Suite . look at the following thread to see the answers given there http://www.thescripts.com/forum/thread188646.html

good luck
