Lookup Change the starting value of an AutoNumber field (MDB) in help.
That should give you what you want.

Hi!

Why not leave the autonumber as it is and create another field,
textfield, then set the rowsource as:

=Nz(DMax("[Countingfield]","tblCustomers"),1000)+1

or in the click event of a button (Me!Countingfield =
Nz(DMax("[Countingfield]","tblCustomers"),1000)+1?

In that way you'll have a field that is always serial. By the way...You
should never let anyone have the opportunity to delete rows. Hide them
so that you can run reports/statitics on what was deleted.
Works great for me :-)
