Help Opening a Record from a Query

P: 3
First off, I have VERY limited experience in MS Access most of it is self taught, so keep that in mind. Here is my issue:

I have a form OpenIssues that uses qryOpenIssues to display all issues that are not closed in table Issues. What I am trying to do and have had no luck on is, upon clicking on one of the listed issues having my form IssueEntry open up to that record. I am sure this is an easy one for you experts but I would appriciate any help you might offer.

In form OpenIssues you can have some code (triggered by a command button or on AfterEntry; AfterUpdate or whatever) which opens (displays) the form IssueEntry and sets the 'Filter' property of that form to reflect the record that matches the one selected in OpenIssues.

So what would I put in the Filter field?

That depends on the record layout of the underlying table, but assuming the Primary key is called [PID] and the PID of the record selected is a value of n (we'll assume numeric) then the filter should be set to something like :-
Expand|Select|Wrap|Line Numbers
  1. [PID]=n
For a full explanation of what can be entered into that field and how it works, open the form in Design View; select the Filter field then hit F1 for context sensitive help.

Alternatively, you can re-set the RecordSource poperty to your own SQL code if you prefer.
