Excel import process stops running

P: n/a
Dear reader,

One table in database A...mdb is linked to a table in database B..mdb.

As A..mdb is open and in B...mdb starts an excel import procedure the
progress bar shows that the import procedure stops. After the A...mdb is
closed the excel import procedure runs smoothly. The linked table in A..mdb
is not the same table as used for the excel import procedure. Is there
anyone who knows why the import procedure hangs when there is a link between
two mdb's.

Tanks fore any help.

Kind regards,

Simon

I'm not sure I understanding exactly what you are describing.

Is this a vba procedure or what you are actually doing?

Is the table being accessed (in either database) whilst you import? ie
is the table open, locked in a related form, being used as part of a
query.

Why would you have both databases open at the same time?

Dear Mat M,

The import procedure is a VBA procedure to import an excel sheet into a
table in the B......mdb.
Both databases are open at the same time because the A.....mdb is an other
application used by other users and requires information from a table in the
B......mdb. But the import table is not the same one as the linked table.

Simon

Is the imported spreadsheet a read only document or perhaps could
someone else have it open right then in edit mode.

If the code has Excel as visible=false it may be asking something but
since it is false it doesn't show and so cannot be answered.
