Hi - I am new to the forum.
I starting developement on an application where the user level security is such that I need to restrict access to individual fields in a table.
I am familiar with Access Security and workgroups, and setting up forms limiting the fields that are showing.
But I am concerned about the back door. How do I prevent a user from opening the database window and looking at all of the data in the table?
If I restrict access to the table, then the query with limited fields will not work either.
I have also tried changing the table properties to hidden, but a user without admin access can use the menus to go to options and view hidden tables.
I can close the database window in startup, block use of the F11 key, and even limit the menus, but any user can bypass the startup with the shift key. And then all is revealed again.
Now I don't think these users will have any idea how to do this, but that is still a whole in security for confidential information.
I know that I can split the data into many tables and restrict that way, but it is looking that that option may be a nightmare.
So is there a way to keep certain users out of the back door, while allowing admin users access? I've been all through this site, and can't find the exact answer.
Thanks much for your help.
