Access 97 and importing csv file...type conversion failure

OK this is a weird one.

I've got an import routine going whereby name and address data is pulled
into a table from a csv file.

I'm having strange results when importing postcode/zip data into a text
field. I'm also using an import specification that specifies the post/zip
code field is text.

If the contents of that column are all alphanumeric UK postcodes e.g. LL55
2PW then that field imports fine. If, however, there are numeric only US
zipcodes and the number of zipcodes is more than the UK postcodes, for some
reason Access only imports the US zipcodes and gives me a "type conversion
failure" for the UK Postcodes. I find this strange being that the field
they're importing into is text and the specification says the field is text.
I would have thought the problem would be the other way round!

I've done a bit of research into this and came across a posting in this
group that mentions Access scanning the column to determine the format of
the field. That might make sense if it's finding more numeric data than
alphanumeric but how can it override the import spec? And more importantly,
how do I workaround this?

Thanks

Alan

Sorry, just worked out the code I was using wasn't using the import
specification...doh! It now works OK.
