Building a text box off of a query

76
Hello,

I have a form that has a text box that is a dsum run off of a query. The query is called Leave. I'm trying to make it so that the data returned from the query is between [Start Date] and [End Date], both are values entered by the user. I tried doing this in the query, but it gave me an error. Also, the form's control source is another table, so I don't think that I can do anything in the query builder for the form.

The formula for the text box is...

=IIf(IsNull(DSum("[Hours]","Leave","Name='Curtis Lafate' and Type='Annual Leave'")),0,DSum("[Hours]","Leave","Name='Curtis Lafate' and Type='Annual Leave'"))

How can I make this query run off of user entered dates and still have the form controlled by a different table?

Thanks,

Charlie

Hi Charlie,

I suppose that the query in question gets the parameters from a form? Or those are parameters that you have to introduce when you open the form?

If it's the first case when you are doing the Dsum the respective form I think have to be opened!

If it's the second one - sure that Dsum don't function! So make in your form 2 Unbound Text boxes... and assign them in your query - not sure that will give a good result but u can try!

:)

Best regards!

:)
