Connection in mdb

Hi,

I have an Access mdb file which asks for a connection with server XYZ
when I try to open tables. How do I change the connection in this mdb
file? I didn't find any option in Access which allows me to change the
"connection strings".

All your comments are highly appreciated!

Thanks,
Bart

Are these tables linked, and do you have a connection to the source?

Check under Tools | Database Utilities | Linked Table Manager to see
where the links point to.

Hi Smartin,

Thanks for the reply.

This mdb file is the "front end" of an application. The data itself
is stored in a SqlServer. When I open the front end, it tries to
connect to the SqlServer, which isn't online.

I'd like to migrate to another SqlServer. As you suggest, changing
the links of the tables should solve my issue. Now, here comes the
funny part, when I open the front end mdb file in Access there is no
Tools item on the menu bar ...

Do you know how to solve this?

If necessary, it is possible to bring the "old" SqlServer back
online.

Thanks for your time,
Bart

Hmm.. without understanding why an entire menu would disappear can you
work around it by customizing your toolbar to include the linked table
manager?

Right click the toolbar somewhere empty, customize, commands, category
tools, drag the linked table manager up to a toolbar somewhere. Works
for me in A2002.
